Busy Day Self Care

Before I even knew what mental health was about or why it was important, I rarely addressed my emotions or what was going on in my mind. Partly because I didn’t want to deal with them, but also hugely in part because I felt like I didn’t have time for them.


Even now, I’m balancing multiple responsibilities while trying to secure the bag and I am finding less and less time to do my normal/preferred self care activities (although I will always take necessary break when I really need to).

So, this blog is for anyone who want to have better mental health, without having to sacrifice time for securing the bag. I’ve got 5 tips for you to practice self care, even on your busiest days!

Listen to a Positive Podcast on Your Commute

You’re already going to be stuck in traffic on your way to or from work, so you might as well take advantage of that time. Pop on an inspirational podcast that will feed you positivity and good vibes while you’re on your way towards securing the bag. Some of my favorite positive podcasts are Affirm, Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations, & And Especially You.

Feel the Sun

Even if it’s on your lunch break, take a step outside and feel the sun on your skin! We all need to get our daily dosage of Vitamin D and the sun is the most natural source of energy and rejuvenation for us!

Drink Some Water!

WE GET IT, you LOVE coffee! I know you need it in the morning to wake yourself up or in the afternoon to keep you going, but between those coffees, be sure to drink some water! Your body NEEDS it! Not only will staying hydrated keep you from having headaches, migraines, and fatigue, but it will also keep you feeling energized, and your skin will love you for it!

Call Your Mom! Or Someone Else You Love!

No matter the stresses of your day, talking to someone you love at the end of a long day is a great way to detox. Whether that means talking to your loved one about what’s stressing you out, or talking to them about something completely opposite of what’s got you stressed to help take your mind of things. You’ll feel much better after the chat.

Sleep, Child!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again for the people in the back…DON’T. SACRIFICE. SLEEP! I don’t care what you have to do. Plan ahead, be productive during the day, unplug as soon as you get home, and do what you’ve got to do to get yourself a good 7 hours of sleep! I understand you might not be able to do that every night, but at least 5/7 nights a week should be a quality 7 hours or so.When you get enough sleep, you’re a much better human. Your mind needs to get consistently good rest in order to function properly and help keep you afloat. So, do me a favor, and please sleep, child!

BONUS - Treat Yo’ Self!

I’m not saying go crazy and drop $$$ on something outrageous that you definitely do not need, BUT if you’ve had a particularly rough day, go ahead and buy yourself that fancy latte or treat yourself to a pedicure after work! Sometimes we all need that extra something to keep us going and that’s okay!
